Lexi was sleeping against the fence.

Sierra was gone

Kichan walked up to the gate and rattled it. "Are you hungry?"

I woke up. "Huh? Oh....yeah." I stood, shaking my white pelt.

Kichan turned towards the door and barked.

May opened the door and saw the stray. "Aww, Kichan... Feeding strays, now are we?" she quickly went into the house, knocking stuff out of her way, and returned with fried steak leftovers and a bowl of water. She opened the gate and placed the food on the driveway, before running back into the house to resume her cleaning.

Kichan lay down in her dog house and began chewing on a bone as she watched Lex.

I ate the steak and looked at her. "Do you know it's always been my dream to be a police dog."

Kichan nodded her head. "Yeah, but ya gotta be part German shepherd, or be shepherd. Or ya gotta be Rottweiler, Doberman."

I look at her. "Im part German Shepherd. My Father was a white shepherd, my mom was a husky."

"But I'm not sure if they let mixes join the canine police."

I shrug. "Yeah, but I have such great speed, smell, and hearing, and I know how
to use a gun." I smiled

"But you won't be able to have a gun, and you have canine police so you don't have to shoot."

I nodded. "I know, but that also shows how smart I am."

"Or how insane..." Kichan muttered loud enough for ONLY her to hear. "I don't think they let in mixes, but I'm sure they'll let in me."

I narrowed my eyes and then smelled a musty smoke scent. I growled and ran onto the front yard, then into the back. I stood in the backyard barking at a
plant by some pipes and garden that was on fire. I barked, trying to get May to come out.

May opened the back door and quickly ran back in. She filled up some cans with water and ran back out. She dumped it onto the garden, setting the fire out. She checked for any more and finally swipped her hand across her sweaty forehead.

Kichan smelled it, too and went to see what was up.

I looked at May, tail gently wagging.

May walked to the back gate and opened it to let in the dog. She returned to the house and came back with some more food and water. She set it down in front of the back door and returned to the house.

I looked at the human. I had saved her garden and house, and she didn't even say anything, or look greatful. I sat down.

May returned and sat. "Hello. Do you want a home?" she held out a hand.

I stretched my neck and smelled her hand. I licked her fingers, then backed up, tail erect.

May looked at her and looked around, nothing seemed wrong.

I looked at the ground, ears flat. I whined a little. I wasn't sure about humans...

May sensed what was wrong and went back into her house to give the dog alone time.

I continued staring at the ground, thinking
